Harlequins hunt Bath at The Rec.

Bath and Quins will kick Round 14 off at The Rec. on Friday night. The home side have a mountain to climb if they wish to salvage pride from what has hitherto been a disastrous campaign. Before being bullied in the Champions Cup by La Rochelle and Leinster, their last action in the Premiership saw them post their first victory of the tournament, against Worcester:
Quins will be licking their lips at the prospect of having a crack at Bath as, based on current trends, the fixture is likely to yield 5 points for the former. In Round 13, Quins enjoyed a valuable victory over Exeter Chiefs:
Quins coach Tabai Matson said:
“It’s a cliché, but starting well against Bath this weekend is going to be crucial for us. Giving the opposition 13 points at the start of the game isn’t sustainable and we just can’t let that happen Friday night.
“I think Bath are going to ruin a lot of people’s weekends this year and we’ve got to go into it with a clear game plan to go to The Rec and play well. We haven’t managed to play well for a full 80 minutes for about a month, so we are focusing on an 80-minute performance this Friday.
“We had one of our best training sessions of the season at the start of the week and a lot of that is the fact that there is an opportunity to lead, an opportunity to play and also an opportunity to develop for a lot of guys during this Six Nations window.”
