Four Games To Watch This Weekend

The new decade and year is here and as we head into the first rugby weekend of the year, we have picked out four must-watch games in what is a jampacked weekend of European Rugby.

Ulster Rugby vs Munster Rugby 

For the first time in 22 matches, Munster are entering a Guinness PRO14 match off the back of a defeat at Thomond Park. They were beaten by Leinster in a gritty affair at Thomond Park last weekend and we expect them to go into Friday’s match with fire in their bellies when they make the trip to the Kingspan.

Ulster are busy building momentum on an impressive run, which sees just one defeat in their last seven in all competitions and having not been beaten in Belfast since October 2018 we bound to have another cracking encounter on our hands. 




Leinster Rugby vs Connacht Rugby


The reigning Pro 14 Champions Leinster are currently flying high in the Pro 14 but they come up against an Irish foe this weekend that will be keen to throw the cat amongst the pigeons. 

Leo Cullen’s chargers are the only unbeaten side in any of the three major leagues, played 13, won 13 and the closest to them are Exeter, who have won nine of their 11 games in both competitions they play in. 




Saracens vs Worcester Warriors

With games starting to run out, Saracens are currently on -12 points and they don't have a  lot of ground to play with if they want to stay up in the Premiership. 

The defeat at Exeter on Sunday was their first in Premiership Rugby since they lost to Northampton on the opening round of this season. The loss at Allianz Park was also the London side’s first the in Premiership Rugby since Leicester won there in February 2018.

Worcester Warriors have lost just one of their last four Premiership Rugby encounters 3-36 at Gloucester in round 6 but they have won only once away from home in Premiership Rugby since March 2019. 




Stade Francais vs Toulouse

It might not be a top of the table clash but Stade Francais need a win if they want to get out of the relegation zone. They have only picked up 16 points in 12 games and have also conceded the most amount of points in the Top 14 until now. 

While Stade is only one point behind the second last team in the league, they face Toulouse side who is trying to move up into third spot which is currently being held by rivals Toulon.
