Former All black centre Aaron Mauger is set to take charge of the newest addition to Super Rugby, Moana Pacifika.
The team will be based in Auckland and has been set up in order to give promising Island players a shot at the big leagues.
Mauger, who played 45 Tests for the All Blacks, is no stranger to the coaching scene after having done time with the Highlanders as well as Leicester tigers in the Premiership. He appears upbeat about the upcoming challenge.
“This is an opportunity to be part of something very special,” said Mauger.
“My goal is to give players the platform they have been crying out for, to play our style of rugby, to demonstrate that their heritage can be celebrated openly and their skills and talent are sought after.”
