Chris Ashton slapped with 6-week ban

Worcester Warriors' Chris Ashton has been banned for six weeks following his no-arms hit against Northampton Saints.

The former England man was shown a red card in the 49th minute of the clash on Saturday 27 March 2021. This was for dangerous play in a ruck or maul contrary to World Rugby Law 9.20a

Ashton contested the charge but it was upheld by the independent disciplinary panel, which gave him a six-week suspension. He is free to play again on 1 June 2021.

Tom Dunn and Will Muir of Bath Rugby also appeared before an online independent disciplinary panel last night (Wednesday 31 March 2021).

Dunn was shown a red card in the 61st minute of the match between London Irish and Bath on Saturday 27 March 2021 for striking with the elbow contrary to World Rugby Law 9.12.

Muir was cited by independent citing commissioner Duncan Bell following the same match. This was for tackling London Irish's Rob Simmons in the air, contrary to World Rugby Law 9.17.

Both Dunn and Muir accepted the charges against them and were given suspensions by the independent disciplinary panel as follows:

Dunn - three-week suspension.

Muir - two-week suspension
