Chris Ashton departs Worcester Warriors

Chris Ashton has left Worcester Warriors, the club confirmed on Monday morning.

The club confirmed that Ashton's departure from the Premiership club was with immediate effect and by mutual consent.

The former England international arrived at Sixways from Harlequins 11 months ago but calf and knee injuries have prevented him from playing for the Warriors this season.

The statement added that 'The daily commute from his home in Northampton had also proved challenging so the club and Ashton have agreed a release from his contract which was due to expire at the end of this season.'

Reports in the Rugby Paper last month suggest that Ashton will call time on his career following his exit from the Warriors.
