Borthwick selects 36-player squad for Lensbury training camp

Steve Borthwick has selected a 36-player squad for England’s third Rugby World Cup training camp.  
 
The squad, which does not include players from Gallagher Premiership finalists Sale Sharks and Saracens, assembled at The Lensbury in south-west London on Monday 26 June as England continue their preparations for the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France. 
 
“I’m pleased with the progress that’s been made over the last two weeks and we look forward to another productive training camp at the Lensbury,” said Borthwick. 
 
“There’s still a long way to go until we are ready for a World Cup, but each day we take another step forward.”

Billy Vunipola (Saracens) underwent a minor surgical procedure on his injured knee on Friday. The No. 8 will continue his rehabilitation, aiming to be available for Rugby World Cup selection in August. 
 
“The medical team are positive about my prospects, and I understand exactly what needs to be done over the next few weeks,” said Vunipola. 
 
Ollie Chessum (Leicester Tigers), Luke Cowan-Dickie (Exeter Chiefs), Ollie Lawrence (Bath Rugby) and Jack Walker (Harlequins) remain in camp to continue their rehabilitation from injury.
 
The first of England’s Summer Nations Series matches begins against Wales at the Principality Stadium on Saturday 5 August (kick off 5.30pm), with a return fixture at Twickenham Stadium scheduled a week later on Saturday 12 August (kick off 5.30pm). 
 
England then travel to Dublin to face Ireland at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday 19 August (kick off 5.30pm), before returning to Twickenham Stadium to play Fiji on Saturday 26 August (kick off 3.15pm).
