Ben Curry voted Premiership Player of the Month for December

Sale Sharks flanker Ben Curry has been voted as December’s Gallagher Player of the Month, winning 35.3% of the public poll ahead of Bath Rugby flanker Ted Hill, and Bristol Bears centres Benhard Janse van Rensburg and Kalaveti Ravouvou.

After nine rounds of Gallagher Premiership Rugby, Curry had helped Sale into the top four of the Gallagher Premiership Rugby table to close out 2024. That included a starring role as Sharks recorded a first away win of the campaign, making 22 tackles and securing two turnovers in a stunning 38-0 win at Bristol Bears.

The 26-year-old has been outstanding form for Sharks, who won all three of their league matches in December, in addition to winning one out of two games in Europe.

Isaac Pollitt, Account Executive at Gallagher, said: “It’s a pleasure to present the Gallagher Player of the Month trophy to Ben. He has been brilliant during the season so far and central to some key moments on the pitch. Ben clearly played an instrumental part in Sale Sharks’ victory against Bristol Bears recently and the signs look very promising as the season progresses.”

Curry becomes the first non-Bristol Bears player to win the award this season, with Max Malins and Gabriel Ibitoye voted as September and October Gallagher Players of the Month respectively.

The shortlist was voted for by a panel of media professionals.

The judges for the 2024/25 Gallagher Premiership Rugby season are: Jill Douglas (ITV, BBC), Ali Eykyn (TNT Sports), Hugh Godwin (i), Chris Jones (BBC), Alex Lowe (The Times), Gavin Mairs (Telegraph), Ugo Monye (BBC, TNT Sports), Nick Mullins (TNT Sports) and Claire Thomas (BBC, TNT Sports).
