At least Sharks had energy

The words character and commitment have been mentioned in the past following Cell C Sharks matches during the current Vodacom Super Rugby season, but seldom have they had the meaning and significance that they had when Gary Gold spoke about it in Johannesburg this past weekend.


It was a case of close but no cigar for the Sharks, who saw a late match-winning long range penalty attempt from Fred Zeilinga drift down the wrong line and peg them to an agonising 23-21 defeat to the Emirates Lions, but Gold rightly felt that at least his players had delivered the response that he had asked for.
