The ACT Brumbies have confirmed the club’s 2023 Super W coaching group, with Brumby #62 Scott Fava having been announced as head coach in October.
Former Australian Sevens representative Tim Cornforth will take charge of the team’s attack in 2023, the ACT Brumbies junior having had a successful playing career in the John I Dent Cup, winning a premiership with Royals in 2015 after a three-year stint in New Zealand with Southland.
Mick Burrows will continue his role as forwards coach for a fourth season, the Canberra local having built a dominant Brumbies pack last season.
Rounding out Fava’s key staff appointments is strength and conditioning lead Ryan Connell, who joins the club having honed his craft with the Canberra Raiders for the past six years.
ACT Brumbies Super W head coach, Scott Fava said: “I’m really excited to get the chance to work alongside this group of coaches.”
“Tim’s someone who will bring great energy to our group, and with his rugby and strength and conditioning coaching background, I’ve no doubt he’ll be a great fit.
“Adding to that is Ryan and I think he’s someone who will grow at the Brumbies and we’re fortunate to be able to bring his experience from the Raiders into our mob.
“Having Mick Burrows continue as forwards coach this year is particularly important, not only because of the growth we’ve seen in our forwards in his time working with them, but because of his connection to the ACT, Canberra Rugby and the Brumbies as a club.”
ACT Brumbies General Manager Professional Rugby and Pathways, Chris Thomson said: “We’re delighted to appoint Tim, Mick and Ryan who will support Scott with the delivery and continued growth of our Super W program in 2023.”
“All three are passionate about the ACT, the region and are committed to creating an elite environment for our players to thrive in.
“Our focus now is to continue to identify and appointment the right support and performance staff to lay the right foundations for the team before Christmas so we can hit the ground running when we join back up as a squad in January.”
