The second half got off to a slow start as the first points came through a Jake Gordon try in the 64th minute which was converted. Jake Gordon showed more of his class and scored yet another try to get a hat-trick in the 72nd minute with Mack Mason missing the conversion, bringing the score to 12-33. This was the last points to be scored by the Eagles as the Rays continuously pushed the Eagles for the next few minutes with a try finally coming in the hands of Hugh Sinclair (77') and a conversion from Harry Burey. But it proved too little, too late as the Eagles took their first win of the season with a 19-33 win over the Sydney Rays.
