The Cheetahs claimed a 45-21 away win over the Kings in the historic first South African derby in the Pro 14. The Cheetahs ran in three first half tries to one and added a penalty to take a comfortable 24-7 lead into the break. The Cheetahs scored right at the start of the second half to extend their lead to 31-7. The Kings responded with their second score not long after to reduce the deficit back to 17 points. With around 10 minutes remaining, the Cheetahs picked up two yellow cards in quick succession, with a Kings penalty try following to close the gap to just ten points at 31-21. However, despite being down to 13 players, the Cheetahs hit back with two late tries to seal the victory.
