Munster and the Sharks clash in the opening round of the United Rugby Championship. Munster went down 16-6 to Leinster in the 2020/21 Pro14 Final near the beginning of the year and finished second in their Rainbow Cup group back in June. The Sharks ended in third position in the SA Rainbow Cup pool and recently went down 44-10 to the Bulls in the Currie Cup final.
