Great field position by Japan and quick hands was their undoing as they cough it up. the turnover ball was dealt with as it always is, with a quick counter attack.
Japan set up a line out 15m out after some great rucking and breakdown work

What a great effort by Japan as the NZ Maori were caught offside receiving ther kick off. The home side set up a great driving maul and ,arched on towards the try line. The visitors were clearly collapsing the maul and 4 players were picked out by the referee.
First phase ball straight off the top of the line out and what great vision by Smylie as he spots the gap and bursts through it as the Japanese defence drifts away. Well supported by Polwart who reaps the rewards
Heartbreaking for Japan as they put some phases together but a knock one gifts the ball to the NZ Maori. They are deadly on turnover ball and 4 passes later Japan are opened up and Emery goes in under the posts
Japan infringe at the break down and West finally converts a kick. Very unlike him to miss so much
Great break by Ngatai on the left wing after Lowe set him free. His kick ahead was good but forced into a high tackle as Japan clear their lines
Japan lose a player early on as he seems to take a rather unfortunate knock off his own player in open play.
Japan try and run the ball out from their own 22 but lose it to another good turnover. The ball went wide right with some good hands and Eves was on hand to take a great pop pass and fall over the line to open the scoring
