What a finish by Grenoble!! Clinched a 1 point victory in last play.... After numerous phases of Grenoble's pack picking and going from the back of each ruck, Toulon's defence on the fringes was just too solid to get through, Groenoble then went wide, with lovely footwork in the middle of the field. Ball lands in the hands of scrum half Pelisse who has not just a few metres to cover before diving for the line in what was a superb finish to a great game! Grenoble have now prevented Toulon from regaining that top spot from their rivals Clermont.
Very entertaining game altogether. Keep an eye on this page for highlights which will be uploaded soon.
A superb Lineout just outside the 5 metre line is gathered and turned into a maul. Grenoble manage to get 10 of their 15 players into the maul which sees the replacement hooker touch down over the line. Well deserved by Grenoble.
A dodgy floating pass by Toulon's inside centre Messina is watched all the way by Ninard who runs on time for an intercept and then is free to run 60 metres to dive for Grenoble's first try of the match under the posts.
Time out as the Ref gets sandwiched between a barging Van Niekerk and Andrew Farley. Ref is down on his knees as medics come to assist. He gets back to his feet and fixes his mic before continuing with a scrum Toulon.
Wulf fumbles the ball in the tackle and it is left floating in the air but he catches it before it hits the ground and runs 10 metres to the line to touch down under the posts. Toulon with 3 tries now in just over 20 mins!
A superb pass out of the tackle by Giteau floats out wide and into the hands of Smith who evades the tackles of both wing and fullback of Grenoble. Great finish!
Only 7 minutes played and Toulon get the scoring underway. The strength of prop forward Levan Chilachava combined with Joe Van Niekerk see them barge through 3 defenders and dive for the line from the back of a ruck. TMO used to confirm grounding and Giteau converts
