What for
Full time here in La Havre and the French were full value for their 38-18 win. Tonga battled well throughout and were coming right back into the game just before half-time but ill-discipline cost them big time and they couldn't get close there after. One of the big positives for France will be the performance of debut man Sofiane Guitoune. On a negative point of view, flanker Ouedraogo went off injured and Maestri will have a suspension to deal with after his red card. A huge test lies ahead of them next week in Paris against South Africa. For Tonga they travel to Cardiff next week to take on the Welsh in what will be another uphill battle but no doubt they will lift themselves for it. We hope you enjoyed our coverage and we look forward to bringing more games to you.
TRY TONGA. Vainikolo caps a good personal appearance and is awarded a second try after doing very well to beat his opposite number Guitoune in a tight spot and touch down in the corner. This brings his international tally to 11 tries in just 11 games! Latiume Fosita converts impressively to bring about the final whistle, final score 38-18.
Once again the TMO is called in and this time its the Tongans who ware hoping to be awarded the try. If awarded it will be a second for winger Fetu'u Vainikolo.
TRY FRANCE. Replacement hooker Benjamin Kayser is the man who emerges from the bottle of the pile after a French maul marched the opposition back over their own line. Michalak adds the extras, 38-11 they lead.
Glen Jackson has gone upstairs but it would appear France are in for another try after a forceful driving maul collapsed over the line.
France enjoying all the possession and territory at the moment as the Tongan effort and energy seems to have wilted significantly.
Yoann Maestri and Alisona Taumalolo exchanged punches after a disagreement at the break down.
PENALTY FRANCE. Another clean strike from Parra pushes his side out to a 20 point lead and quells the momentum of the Tongans. 31-11.
