Thank you UR for the coverage. Well done, Clermont.
Not the same side without a Jonny.
Clermont ran out 22-16 victors over Toulon in tonight's fixture at Stade de France, clinching only the second Top14 title in the club's history. Clermont got off to a flying start, scoring thirteen unanswered points in the opening 20 minutes, including an incredible try from Alivereti Raka. Toulon managed to hit back with a penalty and a converted try of their own when Tuisova managed to touch down in the corner after some unbelievable individual strength and power. Clermont hit back with a penalty on the stroke of half time, leaving them with a 6 point lead at half time. The second half was remarkably tense, with both sides exchanging penalties as the clock ticked on. Toulon piled on the pressure in the dying embers of the game, but were penalised for not releasing the ball on the ground, bringing the game to a close. In the end, the result could have gone to either side but the deciding factor was the accuracy of Morgan Parra's left boot. He recorded a remarkable 6/6 successful kicks and was one of the keys in securing his side's status as champions of France.
