Montpellier retain possession from the kick-off and Alex Cuthbert nearly intercepts a loose pass.

There was a late change as Dan Fish tweaked a muscle just before kick-off, Rhys Patchell moves back to full back and Jarrod Evans goes into fly-half.

Cardiff off to a dream start as the kick-off isn't chased down properly and Tom James evades a few tackles before getting the ball to Rhys Patchell who finishes in the corner. He dusts himself off and converts. 7-0
