Khuthazani Kingdom Mchunu, born on 1 July 1997 in Greytown, South Africa, is a formidable tighthead rugby player. With a height of 1.84 meters and a weight of 117 kilograms, he possesses both strength and size, making him a force to be reckoned with on the field.
Mchunu's rugby journey began at the age of seven in Greytown, where he developed a passion for the sport. He attended Greytown High School before later transferring to Glenwood High School, a renowned rugby institution. It was at Glenwood High that his talent began to flourish, and he earned recognition by being selected for the Sharks U18 Craven Week squad in 2015.
Continuing his rugby career, Mchunu represented the Sharks in the U19 Provincial Championships, showcasing his skills and determination. He also had the opportunity to play for UKZN in the Varsity Shield, further honing his abilities on the field.
Recognizing his potential, Mchunu was included in the Springbok U20s training squad in preparation for the U20 World Rugby Championship. This selection was a testament to his talent and dedication to the sport.
In January 2018, Mchunu received another significant opportunity when he was named in the Sharks' 2018 Super Rugby squad. With aspirations to make his debut, he joined the team, ready to contribute his skills and make a mark on the field.
In 2020, Mchunu decided to embark on a new chapter in his rugby career and made the move from the Sharks to the Cheetahs. This change provided him with fresh opportunities and challenges as he continued to pursue his passion for the game.
