Originally from Zimbabwe, Horstmann has earned a reputation as a direct-running forward who can operate across the back row with comfort.
Having began his professional career with Harlequins in 2002, Horstmann moved onto pastures new and Worcester Warriors, where he appeared on over 100 occasions.
In the summer of 2012, Horstmann signed a two-year deal with Exeter Chiefs.
In March 2016, Horstmann signed a new one year deal with Exeter Chiefs. Rob Baxter has made Kai an important member of his side.
Coming into the 2016/17 playoffs, Horstmann has played 15 times in the Aviva Premiership scoring two tries.
