In June 2021, Tafernaberry played for Uruguay u20s in the Four Nations tournament in South Africa.
This included him featuring prominently in the win over Georgia. In November of the same year, he was named on Uruguay’s roster for the tour to Europe. He was a replacement for Los Teros against Italy ‘A.’
He later signed a deal with Top 14 side, Stade Français.
