Gala returned to the RBS Premiership in 2011 and won the RBS Scottish Cup a year later, with McQuillin playing a key role in both victories.
He joined London Scottish after being part of the Elite Development Programme with Edinburgh Rugby.
The tight-head was a crucial member of the Exiles scrum during the 2016-17 season, earning a recall on loan to Edinburgh, where he started their Pro12 victory over Treviso at BT Murrayfield.
He originally signed for Edinburgh Rugby in 2013 and joined the club’s Elite Development Player programme having previously played for Gala and Melrose.
In April 2018, McQuillin signed a deal with Yorkshire Carnegie ahead of the 2018-19 season.
