McKern began his career in his native Australia with the Canberra Vikings and West Lions in the National Rugby Championship before moving to Jersey.
McKern, who has also represented Super Rugby franchise Brumbies, qualifies for England through his Shrewsbury-born father.
The Australian was with the Channel Islanders for four years and played 69 times for them.
The second-rower made 12 appearances for the Ealing Trailfinders during the 2019/20 season after joining from Jersey Reds, and also played in three of the pre-season matches in November against Newcastle Falcons and Bristol Bears.
In January 2021, the Ealing Trailfinders confirmed that McKern had left the club with immediate effect to return to his native Australia.
