Cornel Smit (born 20 August 1997) is a South African rugby union player who currently plays for Western Province in the Currie Cup and the Stormers in the Pro14 Rainbow Cup SA. His primary position is centre.
Smit was included in the Stormers squad for the Super Rugby Unlocked campaign and made his debut for the team in Round 2 of the Pro14 Rainbow Cup SA against the Bulls.
Born in South Africa, Smit attended Bishop's College for his schooling. He began his rugby career with Western Province and made five appearances for the team between 2018 and 2019, scoring 10 points. He then joined the Stormers in 2020, where he has made three appearances. Smit has also been a regular player for Western Province, featuring in 17 matches and contributing 23 points.
With his strong presence in the midfield, Smit adds depth and skill to the Stormers and Western Province squads. His performances demonstrate his potential and dedication as a centre in South African rugby.
