Impressing through the ranks, Auld earned a call up to the Scotland under-17s side, captained Scotland under-18s and was part of the the Scotland under-20 set up. At 18, Auld moved to Gala RFC to begin his senior rugby career, and was part of the team which won the Scottish Cup in 2012. One of his most notable achievements to date was playing with the Scotland 7s team who competed in the 2011 Youth Commonwealth Games on the Isle of Man.
Whilst under EDP contract, Chris continued to play for his club Gala RFC until he was signed by PRO 12 club Edinburgh where he continued his rugby development.
