Despite debuting for the Razorbacks in 2012, it wasn't until 2015 when he finally established himself as a regular starter.
His performances in helping Otago reach the championship semi-finals saw him named as a member of the Hurricanes wider training group ahead of the 2016 Super Rugby season.
Sasagi failed to cement his spot in a talented Hurricanes squad but he continued to perform for Otago in the Mitre 10 Cup and was included in the Manu Samoa squad for the 2017 November Internationals
After yet another strong Mitre 10 Cup season with Otago in 2018, Sasagi headed off to England where he signed a short-term deal with Premiership champions Saracens until the end of January 2018.
He joined the Blues following that short stint in England and was named in the Samoa squad ahead of the 2019 Pacific Nations Cup
