Samuel Ezeala has had a unique journey to the top flight of French Rugby. Born and raised in Spain, Ezeala fell in love with the game and at the age of 15, he reached out to multiple Top 14 clubs.
Clermont jumped at the chance to sign the speedy winger with electric footwork and once he came of age, he moved to Clermont linking up with the Academy.
The Spaniard made his Top 14 debut against Racing 92 during the 2017/18 season but sustained a serious injury that left him sidelined for most of the season.
He returned to help Clermont's Academy win the Espoirs Top 14 title. He featured a further six times for Clermont during the 2018/19 season.
Ezeala enjoyed a fantastic run of form and starts for Clermont at the start of the 2019/20 season starting 10 straight games before a horror injury cut his season short.
He scored a brace against Bath at the Rec on his European debut before suffering the injury a week later.
Still struggling with his injury concerns, Ezeala missed most of Clermont's 2020/21 season making just one appearance.
He heads into the 2021/22 season aged 21 with plenty of time to regain his form and starting role in the side.
