A 6ft 2in Argentinian prop is a product of Los Tordos Rugby Club in Mendoza and was enlisted at the Argentinian Regional High-Performance Center.
The 120kg forward has also represented Argentina U20s and Argentina’s second team the Argentina XV.
2021 has been somewhat of a breakthrough year for Martínez. He was recruited by Paraguayan side Olímpia Lions to play in the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) this season, having turned out for the Argentinian side Ceibos in the competition in 2020. Martínez earned his international call-up off the back of his fine form for Olímpia, appearing eight times and scoring two tries in the SLAR.
In December 2021, Martinez joined Wasps from Súper Liga Americana de Rugby side Olímpia Lions. Martínez joined the Club to act as cover for Ben Harris, who is out with a long-term injury.
Martínez joins a shortlist of Argentinian’s to have pulled on the Black and Gold, including fellow props Gabriel Bocca in 2009/10 and Guillermo Roan in 2011/12. The last Argentinian to play for Wasps was lock Esteban Lozada, who appeared eight times for Wasps in 2013/14.
