WATCH: 18-Year-Old Jonah Lomu Terrorising The All Blacks And Securing A Test Call Up
- 3503
The days before Super Rugby was properly implemented and the All Blacks would play trail games before the test squad was selected.
This provided youngsters the opportunity to prove themselves against All Blacks. In this case, legendary All Black winger Sir John Kirwin had the unfortunate pleasure of defending against an 18-year-old man on a mission, Jonah Lomu.
Lomu shined on the wing as he looked to cement a spot in the senior side and did exactly that as he went on to make his test debut against France in that same year, becoming the youngest All Black ever at 19 years and 45 days.
The late great winger didn't score against the All Blacks but did go on a number of defence busting runs and kept the defence guessing and scrambling to take him down.
