Toulouse vs Bordeaux Begles: Key Moments

Toulouse ran riot in the first half scoring three tries and two penalties to take a 22-3 at the break. Despite some fight back from Bordeaux in the first 20 of the second half, Toulouse were just too strong with Antoine Dupont winning the player of the match.

Dupont scores to draw first blood for Toulouse

Bordeaux Begles had a lineout on the 22m which is overthrown by Maxine Lamothe. Mauvaka steals the ball at the back and Toulouse build phases with the forwards carrying phase after phase. Dupont picks the ball from the base and pops to Thibaud Flament making a destrucive carry. Dupont picks again, double pumps and snipes over the line between the defenders to score the opening try of the match.

Mauvaka extends the lead

It all started with Dupont attacking the fringes of the ruck fixing defenders and allowing Jack Willis to carry with momentum making a linebreak.

Toulouse win a penalty and kick to touch. After the maul, Toulouse build phases mixing it up with their backs and forwards. Mauvaka works hard from the otherside of the field to eventually score in the corner.

Dupont scores a worldie to get his double in 20 minutes

Toulouse fake the maul and attack the vacuum with Mauvaka peeling around switching the ball on the inside to Dupont who makes a break, chips the ball over the fullback and collects to score a world class try.

Referee Ludovic Cayre had a massive call to make with 10 minutes to go before half time

Bordeaux had a scrum and spread the ball wide to winger Louis Bielle-Biarrey who takes a big collision near the touch line. Bielle-Biarrey is cleary hit high and takes indirect head contact however Cayre and his team decided that no card was needed. A massive let off for Toulouse as in another case that hit could have easily been a red card.

Dupont, Ntamack and Ramos masterclass

Dupont creates the fourth try of the match once again attacking the fringes after collecting a pop pass from the deck, draws a defender and plays a cut out pass to Ntamack who makes the break before dinking a grubber through which Ramos collects to score another superb try.

Three minutes later, Julien Marchand takes the game away from Bordeaux to score after powerful maul from the forwards.

Toulouse score three tries in 10 minutes after only putting 3 points on the board in the first 20 minutes of the second half. Blair Kinghorn gets on the score sheet after an interception in the midfield with Paul Costes making the final pass to Kinghorn to score.

In overtime, Toulouse score a 100m try after Bordeaux knock the ball on 5m from the try line. Toulouse spread the ball wide with some players waving to kick the ball out. Mauvaka decides otherwise and attacks the line making a break and offloading in contact. Toulouse keep the ball alive and send it to Capuozzo who finishes in style to crush Bordeaux hearts even further.
