Top Performers: Hurricanes v Crusaders
- 2112
Another cracking New Zealand derby in Wellington with some brilliant team and individual performances.
Here are our Top Performers from the clash at the Cake Tin:
Chris Eves
Picking up a rare try, making an intercept that almost led to a try and solid work in the scrum, Chris Eves, had a monstrous game for the Hurricanes as he did the job required and some.
He also showed off his ball handling skills with a well-timed pass putting Jordie Barrett into space for the Hurricanes second try.
The Maori All Black even moved to the tighthead side of the scrum in the latter stages of the match.
Ardie Savea
After a self-confessed slow start to the season, Savea had an impressive game against the defending champions.
His strong ball carrying got his side on the front foot and he had a strong game on defence making 12 tackles without a single miss.
He also made 8 carries for 34 running metres.
Jordie Barrett
Jordie combined well with his brother Beauden throughout the match and the young fullback ran some clever lines from the back.
He beat 3 defenders, picked up a try assist and made 74 running metres.
He also converted a clutch long-distance penalty for the Hurricanes.
The Barretts are on fire for the @Hurricanesrugby 🔥🔥 #HURvCRU

Matt Todd
A true Crusader Matt Todd played the match with a fractured thumb, that didn't stop the All Black openside from making 8 tackles, 2 turnovers and carrying the ball 5 times.
Ben Lam
Lam sped up the touchline for a fantastic in the first half and continued to perform for a full 80 minutes.
He also had a big match defensively as he shut All Blacks winger Seta Tamanivalu down, as he maintained a 100% tackle success.
