Steve Tandy a frontrunner for Gatland's Lions coaching staff
- 1552
Steve Tandy – Scotland’s revered defensive coach – is now a leading candidate to join British & Irish Lions head coach Warren Gatland’s staff.
Gatland suffered something of a coaching crisis recently after Steve Borthwick, Andy Farrell and Graham Rowntree all made themselves unavailable and must now be replaced.
Scotland have enjoyed much success with Tandy who has risen as something of a defensive mastermind and the 41 year old is expected to be among those chosen when Gatland names his coaching staff tomorrow.
Tandy spent six years in charge of Ospreys before joining Scotland late in 2019. While still fairly green at international level, his capabilities speak for themselves with Scotland having one of the best defences in this year’s Six Nations competition.
