Stats & Facts: South Africa v New Zealand

South Africa and New Zealand face off in the final match of the Rugby Championship on Saturday.

We take a look at some of the stats and facts ahead of the clash.

688 - Beauden Barrett has scored 688 points for the All Blacks so is closing in on 700 points.

3 - Barrett is the third-highest points scorer for the All Blacks, behind Dan Carter (1,598 points) and Andrew Mehrtens (967). 

30 - This encounter will be Siya Kolisi's 30th Test match as captain, surpassing Francois Pienaar to become the fourth most-capped Springbok captain behind John Smit (83), Jean de Villiers (37), and Gary Teichmann (36).


50 - Sbu Nkosi, Bongi Mbonambi and Malcolm Marx need one more try to get to take their Test tally to 10 tries and 50 points.

60 - New Zealand claimed their 60th victory over South Africa last week. The Springboks have claimed 36 wins over the 100 tests with four draws.


75 - TJ Perenara will be playing his 75th Test this weekend. 

150 - Frans Steyn needs to score nine more points to earn 150 Test points. 

647 - The total Test caps for the Springbok starting line-up is 647.

2016 - The All Blacks have won all five matches in The Rugby Championship and will achieve the Southern Hemisphere version of the “Grand Slam” if they win this weekend. The last time the All Blacks achieved this was in 2016.

- The All Blacks lead the competition stats in Tries Scored (25), Clean Breaks (39), Metres Carried (4,511), Defenders Beaten (120), Offloads (53) and Scrums Won (83 per cent). 

-  Rieko Ioane is first on the competition list for Clean Breaks with six and second on Metres Carried with 498 metres; his brother, loose forward Akira, is second on Defenders Beaten with 18.

- David Havili and Will Jordan are second equal of the Try Scorers (together with South African Malcolm Marx) with three; while Jordie Barret is second on the Carries list with 43 and third on the Points Scored list with 39.
