Scottish Derby Fixtures Switched
- 1189
The Scottish Rugby Union have announced that next Saturday’s (22 August, kick-off 5.15pm) Guinness PRO14 fixture between Edinburgh Rugby and Glasgow Warriors at BT Murrayfield will now be Glasgow Warriors’ home leg, with the following Friday’s (28 August, kick-off 7.35pm) intercity derby now a designated Edinburgh Rugby home match.
The fixture switch comes as Scottish Rugby continue to hold discussions with the Scottish Government on the prospect of a pilot event, possibly on Friday 28 August, which could see BT Murrayfield host a very limited, socially distanced crowd for Edinburgh Rugby’s home fixture.

A decision on a proposed pilot event will be made in due course as Scottish Rugby continue to work and hold positive discussions with Scottish Government.
With both clubs in agreement, the 1872 Cup will still be determined over three legs. With the series tied 1-1, next Saturday’s derby will remain the decider, with the fourth and final match continuing as a regular Guinness PRO14 fixture.
The two sides met twice over the festive period, with Glasgow Warriors winning the opening leg 20-16 at Scotstoun, before Edinburgh tied the series with a 29-19 bonus-point victory at BT Murrayfield.
Richard Cockerill’s side will be looking to lift the 1872 Cup for the third straight season having won the inter-city series in both 2017-18 and 2018-19.
