The Hurricanes have secured the re-signing of talented young fullback, Ruben Love, through to the end of 2025.
“I am really excited to re-commit to the Hurricanes until the end of the 2025 season.
“It’s always been a goal of mine and my whānau for me to represent the Hurricanes organisation and Te iwi o Te Ātiawa,” said Love.
Love’s sporting talent has seen him rack up an impressive resume already in his young career.
Son of former-Māori All Black, Matene Love, Ruben continued his family's sporting legacy by becoming the first player to be selected in both the New Zealand Under-18 Māori rugby and cricket sides in 2018, as well as representing both the Under-19 New Zealand cricket team and the New Zealand Schools' Rugby team in 2019.
Despite having the opportunity to pursue a career in cricket, Love chose to make the transition to rugby, linking up with the Wellington Lions in 2020 and scoring a try on debut against Bay of Plenty.
Love's standout performances led to him being signed by the Hurricanes in 2021, debuting against the Highlanders.
Since joining the Hurricanes, Love has continued to impress and has thrived in the team's setup, earning a call-up to the Māori All Blacks and a spot in the All Blacks XV squad in 2022.
