Amanaki Mafi joins Japan squad ahead of World Cup
Ex-Melbourne Rebels backrower Amanaki Mafi has been called into Japan's extended Rugby World Cup training squad despite facing an assault charge from his time at the Super Rugby club, confirms rugby.com.
The Japan Rugby Football Union announced Mafi's inclusion on Monday following delays in legal proceedings in New Zealand, where the alleged incident involving former Rebels teammate Lopeti Timani occurred last July. Full story

USA retained their title in Las Vegas with a 27-0 victory over Samoa in the Cup final and become the outright leaders on the World Rugby Sevens Series 2019.

Experienced South African lock Andries Ferreira has joined the Hurricanes squad for the remainder of the Super Rugby season.

Beaumont calls emergency meeting over World League plans
World Rugby chairman sir Bill Beaumont has called for an emergency meeting with all tier one nations plus Japan and Fiji to discuss World League plans.
In September it was announced that World Rugby wanted to combine Northern and Southern Hemisphere rugby with a 12-nation World League starting in 2020. Read more
Uruguay Stun USA in Seattle
Uruguay sealed their first win over USA on US soil as they ran in 5 tries to claim a 25-32 victory over the 2018 ARC Champions.
The South Americans were quickest out the gates scoring in the 4th minute before a Joe Taufete'e brace put USA in the lead. Federico Favaro and Juan Manuel Cat hit back for the visitors to give them a 13-19 lead at the break with Will Hooley adding a penalty to USA's total.
Uruguay started the second half as they did the first with Federico Favaro scoring his second try of the game inside the first minute of the second half before Joe Taufete'e completed his hat trick at the back of yet another rolling maul. Full match report
Brumbies Assistant Peter Hewat Appointed Australian Schools and U18s Head Coach
Brumbies Assistant Coach Peter Hewat has been named as the new Australian Schools and U18s Head Coach for 2019.
The former NSW Waratahs and Brumbies back played over 150 matches which also included stints at London Irish and Suntory and he still is the NSW Waratahs third highest points scorer with 636 points.
