- 1749
Portugal, initially considered the main contenders for second place in the Group B standings, suffered a sensational first-round defeat to Belgium and drastically reduced their chances of qualifying for the playoffs. Now the Portuguese team needs two wins in the remaining two matches. Will the hosts be able to beat the Poles first? We advise you to read our prediction before you place your bet.
The two teams have met only once in recent history, with the only clash taking place in mid-February 2023, when the Portuguese squad left no chance for its rival (65-3).
Portugal team started the European Championship with an unexpected defeat: in the first round Daniel Urcade's wards met with Belgium, they were considered clear favorites (odds on victory were 1.01), but played the weakest possible game and lost with a score of 6-10. Portugal's offensive line was a complete failure, as they failed to score a single try and all six points came from free kicks.
Poland, who are considered the main underdog of Group B, could not please their fans with a victory in the first round: the team had the most unsuccessful first half, could not come back into the game and quite deservedly lost to their Romanian team (8-20). It's also worth noting that Christian Hitt's men were completely ineffective in the forward line: despite a huge number of attempts, the Polish athletes were able to cross the front line only once, and that was at the end of the match (on 72 minutes).
