European Challenge Cup Preview - Pool 3
- 1300
Newcastle Falcons are sitting pretty at the top of pool 3 with 9 points with The Dragons behind them on 6 and Stade Francais on 4 with Bucharest Wolves occupying bottom spot with 1 point. The Falcons are the only side to have won both their games and will look to further cement their place at the top of the pool with back to back games against Stade Francais.
Newcastle have done well in the Europe this year but have struggled in the league picking up only three wins and are third from bottom after suffering another defeat against Sale last Sunday. As for Stade Francais they continued their fine start to the season with a win against Brive as they moved up to third in the table. After suffering a shock defeat at home to the Dragons in round one Stade Francais will need to get a win in Newcastle if they are to have any chance of topping the group. While the Falcons will look to continue their fine form in the tournament with the Dragons ready to pounce if they slip up.
After an impressive win in Paris against Stade Francais, the Dragons failed to make it two wins from two losing to Newcastle after letting slip a halftime lead. With The Dragons facing bottom side Bucharest Wolves they will look to make it two wins from two against the Romanian side and will hope Stade Francais can do them a favour by beating the Falcons as they look to go top of Pool 3. These sides last met in 2006 where the Dragons recorded their highest ever win in the competition winning 66-10
