Bowron promoted to Super Rugby Pacific squad after debut season in 2024

Brumbies have announced hooker Liam Bowron's promotion to the Super Rugby Pacific squad for 2025 and 2026 seasons.

The Marist College (Canberra) alumni and Australian U20s representative has enjoyed a rapid rise through the Brumbies Academy, rewarded with a Super Rugby Pacific debut this year in the Club's 28-20 win over the Fijian Drua at GIO Stadium.

 Bowron who primarily played in the back-row throughout his juniors, made the transition to the hooker role during his time in the Brumbies Academy. The rugged forward is known for his strong presence in the collision and is notable for his clean up work at the breakdown. Core attributes which swayed Head Coach Stephen Larkham to hand the Canberra local his first Super Rugby Pacific cap this season.

A carpenter by trade, Bowron has been a regular starter for the Canberra Royals in the John I Dent Cup. His side vying for a spot in the 2024 Grand Final when they face the Wests Lions this Saturday at Viking Park.

Bowron says he’s grateful for the opportunity and is excited for the future at the Brumbies.

“I've been a part of the Brumbies since joining the academy in 2016. It has been such an enjoyable journey to make my debut at home in front of my family and friends earlier this year,” said Bowron.

"I'm very thankful to be given this opportunity to join the full-time squad for the next two seasons and can't wait to put my best foot forward for the Brumbies."

Brumbies Head Coach, Stephen Larkham, is pleased with Bowron's progression into the top squad.

“Liam has worked hard the last few years to get to this position. I know he is quite excited to continue with his development and build on his experience,” Larkham said.

“He has had a smooth transition into Super Rugby level, where he was quite comfortable with the increased intensity. So, it was quite pleasing to see him handle that pressure so well early in his career.”
