Having retired from playing in 2011 to take up coaching, former All Blacks star Carlos Spencer has had a stellar playing career, taking the field for the Blues Super 12 team from the start of the competition in 1996.
He went on to score 608 points in 97 appearances for the Blues before leaving the side for Northampton Saints in 2005.
Since his departure, the Blues haven't had a Super Rugby season victory since 2003 when Spencer was last at the helm.
