Deliberate knock-on!
??
After a sustained period of attack on the half way, Bath concede a penalty for holding. Hodgson boots the ball towards the corner. Possession is secured from the line-out and they begin to build the phases. The relentless pressure tells when Mercer slaps down a pass to deny Saracens a certain try. The referee serves him a yellow card.
Saracens draw first blood through Christ Ashton. Forwards secure line-out ball just inside Bath territory, and set the maul. The maul proceeds at a ferocious pace, tearing through the Bath half. As it approaches the line, de Kock splits right and slips the ball to Ashton who cuts back inside and touches down.
Both sides yet to find their rhythm. Neither able to string together more than five or six phases before conceding a turnover.
A Saracen front row, composed of Lions props, concedes a penalty at scrum-time and provides Heatecote with an opportunity to put points on the board. No luck however.
Late Bath Replacement: Donald fails a late fitness test, Heathcote fills into the fly-half shirt.
Good afternoon and welcome. Today, the league leading Saracens welcome seventh place Bath to Allianz Park. Sarries enter the game assured of a home semi-final, but eager to bounce back after their Heineken Cup loss to Toulon last week, and their loss to Gloucester the week before. In contrast, Bath have everything to play for. Only a win will give them an outside chance of finishing in the top 6. But an Exeter victory at home to Gloucester today would render any Bath heroics meaningless. Kick off on the way..
