A great game concludes, Japan can be proud but no doubt they will be disappointed. Japan showed great spirit and played very positive rugby, always looking to keep the tempo high. The difference between the two sides was the commitment Tonga showed to their defence, through a series of massive hits and good organisation they were able to survive a late surge from Japan. Japan showed very good structure with 100% at the lineout and a very powerful scrum.

Japan are looking good in the second half. They are maintaining a very high tempo as the Tongans are looking tired. This is creating some gaps out wide which Japan are getting good return from when the attack wide.
Great patient rugby from the Tongans! They don't panic after conceeding. The regain the ball in Japanese 22m and build 11 phases with a number of pick and goes before firing it out wide for their loosehead to cross the line.
An ideal start to the 2nd half for Japan. Broadhurst makes a penetrating break in midfield. Japan manage to keep the ball alive deep in the Tongan 22m through a numer of soft offloads until the eventually cross for their 2nd try.
Captain Latu leads by example. He puts a chip in behind the Japanese defencive line. Vea then gathers the ball and drives towards the line before offloading Helu who crosses the line for Tonga's 3rd try. Great to see skill from players irrespective of position!
