Born in Bangor, north Wales, Roberts began his senior career with Llandovery but then moved to England since 2014.
He was with Leicester Tigers for three seasons and made 38 appearances for the club, had a loan spell at Rotherham Titans and then returned to Wales for a season with Cardiff Blues prior to joining Doncaster Knights in 2018.
A Championship semi-finalist in 2013/14, he moved to Welford Road the following season and made his Tigers debut in an LV= Cup win at London Irish. Four days later he was a replacement in the match against the Barbarians but an injury in a victory at Newcastle cost him the chance to stake further claims in the run-in to the end of the season.
In June 2020, Roberts signed with Jersey Reds ahead of the new season.
