Carpenter was named in the first ever Sunwolves squad which competed in Super Rugby for the 2016/17 season.
Having previously represented Northland, Toyota Verblitz and Suntory Sungoliath, Carpenter has forced his way into the Japan squad where he hopes to make his debut.
He has made 11 appearances for Japanese side Suntory Sungoliath.
Carpenter left Sungoliath at the end of the 2017/18 season and signed a deal to join NEC Green Rockets.
