The University of Ulster graduate first appeared in the white of Ulster in 2005 against the Scarlets and has since proven himself as a very good technival scrummager. On defence Fitzpatrick has proven himself to be a valuable asset and earned himself a call up to the Churchill Cup squad in 2006/7. Some excellent performances throughout last season saw him drafted into Declan Kidney's squad for the Summer tour of New Zealand where he appeared on two occassions.
