A strong front rower, de Jager made his Currie Cup Debut for the Cheetahs against the Pumas in August 2017.
He also played a few games in the SuperSport Rugby Challenge in 2018, helping the side to the semi-final.
By the end of the 2018/19 PRO 14 season, de Jager has made 8 appearances for the Cheetahs in the PRO14.
