Despite still being of age to represent the under-20 side, Leonard showed clear composure from stand-off in both the RaboDirect PRO12 and Heineken Cup, impressing in the first half of his debut season before focusing on age-grade commitments in the 2012 U20 6 Nations, and being named captain of the squad heading for the Junior World Championship in South Africa. A graduate of the age-grade ranks Leonard is now setting about establishing himself as the club's stand-off in competition with fellow young fly-halves Gregor Hunter and Piers Francis. He has represented both Scotland and London South East at under-18 level, turned out for London Irish A and represented Scotland under-20 in the 2011 U20 6 Nations.
