A rugby league convert at a very premature stage of his league career, McLelland has converted to the 15-a-side game after previously represented England at under-age grades.
After leaving Castleford Tigers behind, McLelland has been introduced into the Scotland set-up and earned himself a spot in the 2018 U20 Six Nations squad.
