Having played for Ulster U20s, Cairns was named in the final 28-man for Ireland’s preparations for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.
The scrum-half scored on his debut appearance for Ulster against Edinburgh in the PRO12. Cairns has made one appearance, scoring one try as he enters the 2017/18 season.
