A powerful hooker born in Canberra, Whittaker has forged himself a reputation as one of the more aggressive hookers in Super Rugby. Having been recruited to the Western Force directly from school, the Australia Under-20 representative made his Super Rugby debut in 2009. Whittaker is also comfortable operating at prop.
