Equally comfortable in any of the back-row positions, Ashe attended Alva Academy and has played club rugby for Hillfoots and Stirling County.
He played every game for Scotland U20 in the RBS 6 Nations in 2013 and was awarded Man of the Match for a barnstorming performance against Ireland at Netherdale in the championship.
Ashe spent a number of seasons in the Scotland 7's set up and made the step up the Scotland Test side against South Africa and in the 6 Nations in 2014 & 2015 respectfully.
He was selected for 2016 Six Nations side.
As of December 2019, Ashe has represented Glasgow 72 times scoring 13 tries.
